Engineered for maximum performance and reduced rotating weight, Strange Oval 31 Spline Gun-Drilled Axles are built specifically for the demands of circle track racing. Designed for divisions ranging from limited modifieds to super late models (where gun-drilled axles are permitted), these axles deliver the perfect balance of strength, torsional flex, and traction optimization.
Gun-drilling removes material from the center of the axle shaft, reducing overall weight without sacrificing structural integrity. This reduction in rotating mass improves throttle response, increases acceleration, and enhances overall driveline efficiency — giving you a noticeable edge on corner exit and long green-flag runs.
Available in diameters from 1.080” to 1.220”, Strange Oval utilizes its advanced KERA “Wrap Axle” Technology to help racers dial in the correct axle diameter based on calculated torque output. By factoring in tire compound and track conditions, Strange identifies the ideal torsional flex to maximize forward bite and throttle steer. The result? Improved traction, smoother power application, and better drive off the corner.
These axles can be cut to custom lengths if needed; however, Strange recommends maintaining at least 2” of spline engagement in most rearend applications to ensure strength and durability under racing conditions.
